Watchdog denies idea of licensing for data processing
MOSCOW, Jul 19 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has denied media reports that the authority suggests licensing companies to process personal data, a watchdog representative told PRIME on Wednesday.
“This is not so. The proposal to the bill does not stipulate the necessity of licensing or additional permission procedures. We mean improvement of security of people’s data for the operators processing noticeable volumes of such data,” the representative said.
Business daily Kommersant earlier reported quoting sources that the service offered to amend the bill on turnover-based fines for leaks of personal data with the requirement for firms to get a license to process such data.
